The Archaeological Museum of Abdera is operational since January 2000 and it contains items coming from excavations of the region of the ancient city. These exhibits cover a chronological range from the Archaic Age to the late Byzantine period, in other words from the 7th century B.C up to the 12th century AD. The exhibits are presented in three categories named: The public life, the private life and the burial customs of the inhabitants of Abdera.

You are in front of the Archaeological Museum of Abdera, and at the homonymous estate. We will begin our acquaintance with the past of this region, by visiting the Archaeological Museum of Abdera,, which is operational since January 2000. The museum contains items, coming from excavations of the region of the ancient city. These exhibits,, cover a chronological range, from the Archaic Age to the late Byzantine period, in other words, from the 7th century BC up to the 12th century AD. The exhibits of the Museum,, are presented in three categories named,: The public life, the private life, and the burial customs of the inhabitants of Abdera. More specifically,, for the public life,, we have exhibits relating to the organization of the state, religion, administrative organization, military activities, and coinage. For the private life,, the exhibits represent professional activities, crafts and workshops, trade,, and construction activities, as well as household chores, grooming, and child life. Finally,, the burial customs,, include everything related to the funeral procedures.
