The sanctuary of Dionysus is dated in the late 4th century BC. It is built in a prominent location in the west of the Ancient Theatre. The space was identified with the Sanctuary of Dionysus because during the excavations a clay mask of the god Dionysus was found here and now is in the Archaeological Museum of Komotini. The excavations are still in progress.
