The building is built, around 1906, by George Papadopoulos and his wife Kleoniki, nee Pilidis - Mazzini. Architectural description: This is a two-storey stone building with bold features of local architecture and austere appearance, without particular ornaments and it stands out from the surrounding neoclassical buildings.It is Characterized by symmetry and many openings. It consists of a semi-basement, ground and first floors with two reception rooms and twelve rooms. Here you see the face of the building, from Lefkada street. Over time: It has been renovated several times, and has undergone several changes regarding openings, since it operated initially as a residence and later, had other functions. During the Bulgarian occupation, the period of World War II, it was used as a police station, and thereafter, until the mid-1970s, housed the 2nd Police Department of Xanthi. How it operates today: From 1986 until today, the building, properly renovated, houses, the Fifth National Nursery of the city and hosts about sixty preschool children.
